Location: Cole’s Point, Lake Moomaw, Hot Springs, VA 24445
Start Time: Race begins at 9am (Swimmers will depart from the beach in waves of 10 people or fewer, 30 seconds apart.)
Check-In: Opens at 7:30am (Breakfast & coffee is available at this time as well)
Warm-ups: Begin at 7:45am (Participants may do warm-up swims in the lake if they choose to)
Check in and warmups: Close at 8:45am
Course: A one-mile loop starting and finishing at the beach, following a shoreline route with clearly marked buoys.
Eligibility: Open to swimmers aged 18 and older. USMS membership is required; a One-Event membership is available for an additional fee.
Entry Fee: $85.00
Registration Deadline: Online registration closes at 12:00 PM EDT on July 31, 2025, or when the event reaches its capacity of 100 participants.

Safety & Race Format

Swimmers will be seeded based on their 1650-yard freestyle time and will start in waves of 10 or fewer, staggered at 30-second intervals. The course is designed to keep buoys on the swimmer’s left, except for the final buoy, which will be on the right. Participants must be able to complete the swim within one hour; those exceeding this time will be listed as DNF (Did Not Finish). The WestRock water rescue team will provide on-site safety support with boats, kayaks, and rescue squads.

Awards & Recognition

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each five-year age group category (18–24, 25–29, 30–34, etc.). The awards ceremony will take place on the beach following the race.
